Saffron Bread

1 medium egg, add water to make 1 1/4 cups liquid
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 cups bread flour
1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon saffron threads
2 teaspoons active dry yeast

Crush the threads to a coarse powder with a mortar and pestle. Add all ingredients in the order given into the bread machine. Use 1.5 lb., medium basic cycle.

NOTES : If using pre-ground saffron, use 1/2 teaspoon. The threads will crush to less than this but they are more potent.
